Better for breast disease – Baby Shampoo and pulsating irrigation

Thirty-seven million people have breast disease. This is despite trained breast specialists and excellent drugs. Therefore, it is time to start solving this problem. Fortunately, Univ Pennsylvania doctors have found a solution. It is the shampoo for children.

This is what “No Tears” advertises. These doctors were looking for a way to remove biofilm from the paranasal sinuses. They looked at the baby shampoo. First, they thought that if it was safe for the eyes, it was meant to be safe for the nose. Then they tested the shampoo with saline and found that at a certain concentration it did not disturb the normal movement of the nasal eyelashes. So they found that a 1% solution was safe for the nose and eyelashes.

Baby shampoo is a type of “cleanser” that breaks the walls that bacteria erect called biofilm. In biofilm, some bacteria come together and erect fences around themselves. Think of this as a cellophane cover. With biofilm, bacteria are protected from the white blood cells of your body’s defender. This wall also defends bacteria from antibiotics. The shell is sticky, which makes it difficult to remove it. Just as baby shampoo lifts sticky things from the scalp, it does so for biofilm in the nose.

In the nose, you have a system whereby millions of small hairs called nasal cilia move a blanket of mucus from the nose. Dust particles and normally inhaled bacteria are trapped in this blanket so that they cannot reach the lungs. Once they are trapped, the movement of the eyelashes acts like oars and moves the mucus from the nose down the throat to the stomach where gastric acid has these invaders. People who have chronic sinusitis can’t get their eyelashes moving fast enough to move the blanket. Instead of pulsating at the normal 14 pulses per second, they move too slowly. In such cases the bacteria remain in place and multiply and then end up with a sinus infection.

To correctly move the bacteria from the nose and sinuses it is necessary to:

a. nasal eyelashes in normal movement
b. mucus that is liquid enough to flow
c. a clear passage for mucus to travel to the throat.

Cilia can move too slowly for many reasons. Smog and diesel fumes slow down the lashes. Solvents and some industrial fumes slow down the lashes. Some bacteria are experts in the production of toxins that eliminate the action of the eyelashes. Some patients have a condition called Empty nose syndrome. Here, too much nasal tissue called turbinates has been removed so that the number of lashes is too small to move mucus from the nose. The laser can also damage the lashes.

Some patients have PONSIS – postoperative nasal / sinus infection syndrome. After nasal / sinus surgery, the nasal lashes are stunned and don’t resume normal eyelash movement for a while. During the time when the lashes don’t move well, an infection can occur. A common cause of poor eyelash function is the reinfection of the nose and sinuses by irrigation with contaminated vessels and bottles. Since these devices have a reflux, contamination can be a cause of reinfection.

The sooner the lashes return to normal speed, the better. Eyelash movement is best improved with pulsatile nasal irrigation. Here, a nasal tip attached to the pulsating source is placed in a nostril and when the pulsating saline flow flows down the nose, the lashes are moved back and forth, like the action of the waves, and then fall to the rhythm with that action . The idea is to use the correct speed, in “harmony” with the lashes. It is like when soldiers march on a wooden bridge. At a certain running speed the bridge will vibrate and shake.

The mucus can thicken and, when dense, that liquid is too heavy to be moved by the eyelashes even with a normal pulse rate. In the condition, cystic fibrosis, the mucus becomes too thick and therefore there are frequent infections

If you have had a nasal injury, you may have an anatomical blockage of mucus flow. For example, a deviated septum can block good drainage.

By adding baby shampoo to a saline solution and using pulsatile irrigation, we get these benefits.

a. The “cleansing” action raises and eliminates the biofilm.
b. The “cleansing” action removes thick mucus to allow the eyelashes to move the mucus blanket.
c. At the correct pulsation frequency, this impulse action “harmonizes” the lashes to bring the lashes back to normal speed.
d. In many cases of chronic sinusitis, normal sinus opening can be blocked due to the accumulation of thick mucus. In fact, once the breast is unlocked, this allows the infected material to escape from the breast cavity and clean air to enter. The combination of shampoo and pulsation is the best here to get rid of sinus blockage.

Just add a teaspoon of salt or enhanced salt and fill the basin up to the 500 ml mark. Now add a teaspoon of baby shampoo. This makes for a 1% solution. This is the concentration that has been tested and found that it works for biofilm and does not harm the nasal lashes. I have my patients irrigate the entire 500 ml. Just insert the nasal adapter connected to the pulsatile irrigation device into the right nostril, lean over the sink to see the drain. Switch on the device. The solution enters the right nasal chamber, wets the right side, then exits the left nostril into the sink. Change sides every 30 seconds or so. Insert the tip of the nose into the left nostril, bend well in the sink and the solution will come out of the right nostril.

Pulsatile irrigation with the shampoo is continued daily, usually twice a day, until the symptoms clearly indicate that the lashes are working again. There is no advantage in continuing to irrigate then; once the eyelashes are normal they can defend the body without external help.

Adding baby shampoo is okay to get rid of a sinus infection. For other uses of pulsating irrigation, adding baby shampoo is not beneficial. For example in allergy, pulsed irrigation is used to avoid medications. Irrigation removes pollen that causes allergy and IgE from the nose which reacts to pollen causing symptoms. If you are using this allergy irrigation, you don’t need shampoo. Likewise, if pulsatile irrigation is used to prevent the common cold by removing the ICAM-1 through which the cold virus enters the body, there is no benefit in using shampoo.

If you are using pulsatile irrigation to restore your sense of smell, adding shampoo is better because this will help the lashes to be able to pulsate the sense of smell to the nose’s sense of smell organs. Pulsed irrigation is also used in Orthopedics to clean wounds, because it is 100 times more effective than simply washing for biofilm removal. Now that so many bacteria have developed antibiotic resistance, this breast treatment method is a welcome method that anyone can use.

Warning: if you use the pulsatile irrigator to administer drugs such as antibiotics directly to the nasal sinuses – Gentamyicn, Amphotericin B, Cyprus or others – do not add baby shampoo as they could affect antibiotic potency.
